Configuration Comparison Tool

Use XIA Configuration to compare current configuration against previous versions to see changes, or to compare items to see differences.

Baselines allow you to compare configuration to a "golden build" so you can determine when a Windows server, Active Directory object or any other item does not adhere to your organization's configuration policy.

Here are a few examples where item comparison is used:

• Detect software installed on a Windows Machine
• Detect services added or removed from a Windows Server
• Detect unauthorised changes to an Active Directory schema
• Detect databases added to a SQL instance
• Detect changes to the code of a stored procedure

The following video demonstrates the item comparison feature. Firstly, security settings are changed on a server that has previously been scanned. The server is then scanned again and the latest version is compared with the previous version.

Change Tracking Example

In this example, the World Wide Web Publishing service is disabled in the services management console:

Then an ODBC data source server name is changed:

Once the item has been scanned by the client, the item is compared with a previous version:

The results of the comparison are displayed in the user interface:

Export to PDF

The results of the comparison can be exported to PDF. Click the image below to see an example.

The results can also be exported to XML and viewed and analysed in Microsoft Excel:
