Track Network Configuration Changes & Compare Systems
XIA Configuration Server can compare the configuration of items against previous versions to determine when a change was made to a system, or it can compare two different items to see differences between them.
Baselines allow you to compare a system's configuration to a "golden build" so you can determine when a server, SQL instance, database or any other item within the inventory does not adhere to your organisation's configuration policy.
Use the results to determine what changes have occurred to an item. Here are just a few examples of real world scenarios where item comparison is used:
Detect databases added to a SQL instance
Detect changes to the code of a stored procedure
Detect services added or removed from a Windows Server
Detect software installed on a Windows PC
Detect unauthorised changes to Active Directory schema
The following video demonstrates the item comparison feature. Firstly, security settings are changed on a server that has previously been scanned. The server is then scanned again and the latest version is compared with the previous version.

In this example, the World Wide Web Publishing service is disabled in the services management console:

Then an ODBC data source server name is changed:

Once the item has been scanned by the client, the item is compared with a previous version:
