Install SQL Server Express

This support article is for users without an existing SQL Server who wish to install XIA Configuration Server.

IMPORTANT: Cancel and close the XIA Configuration Server installer if it is open.

  • Download and run the appropriate version of SQL Server Express for your operating system:
    2017 Express 2019 Express 2022 Express
  • Select the Basic installation type:

  • Read and Accept the license terms:

  • Confirm the install location and press Install:

  • Run the XIA Configuration Server installer and, at the Database Settings step, confirm the SQL Instance Name (local)\SQLEXPRESS:

  • Press Validate to check the connection then Next to continue the XIA Configuration Server installation

After the installation, we recommend installing SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to help administer SQL.
