Bulk Import Users into Active Directory from CSV

Tutorial Outcomes

Learn how to use XIA Automation to:

• Bulk provision Active Directory user accounts onto a network from a CSV file
• Create a new intake year in Active Directory within a school network

1. Create the Automation Profile

In the XIA Automation Administration Tools, create a new automation profile and add the variables and tasks required to create users in Active Directory.

2. Create the CSV File

Create a CSV file with headers that match the variables defined in your Active Directory automation profile.

Note: Within a school environment, you can extract the data from SIMS using a simple report that exports directly to CSV.

3. Import the CSV into XIA Automation Server

Open XIA Automation Server, press the CSV Input button for your Create Active Directory User Account Automation Profile, then upload your CSV file. XIA Automation Server will automatically validate the contents of the CSV file and report any errors.

4. Provision your Active Directory Users

Press Start Profile to provision the users from the CSV file into Active Directory. The file import feature can be used to automate the process of importing CSV files.
