WINS Configuration Reporting Tool

Create WINS service documentation

Automatically document Windows Internet Name (WINS) service configuration with XIA Configuration.

Document replication partners, replication settings and server settings including backup databases, intervals and timeouts.

WINS was designed specifically to support NetBIOS over TCP/IP (NetBT) and is required for any environment in which users access resources that have NetBIOS names.

All of XIA Configuration's features are supported when documenting WINS configuration including version control, PDF output, reporting, change tracking & item comparison, XML output and more.

Replication Settings

Where multiple WINS servers are used on a network, they can be configured to replicate records in their databases to other servers. This can provide for additional resilience, performance and load balancing.
  • Replicate only with partners
  • Overwrite static mappings at this server
  • Pull Replication Start Time
  • Pull Replication Interval
  • Pull Replication Use Persistent Connections
  • Use Push Replication on Startup
  • Push Replication Use Persistent Connections
  • Automatic Partner Discovery

Replication Partners

A replication partner can be added and configured as either a pull partner, a push partner or as a push/pull partner. The push/pull partner type is the default configuration.
  • Partner Name
  • IP Address
  • Type (Push / Pull)
  • Pull Replication Start Time
  • Pull Replication Interval
  • Pull Replication Use Persistent Connections
  • Push Replication Number of changes in version ID before replication
  • Push Replication Use Persistent Connections
