NLB Cluster Settings

Microsoft NLB (Network Load Balancing) increases the availability and scalability of Internet server applications such as web, FTP, firewall and proxy.

Document the following NLB cluster settings:

  • Cluster Name
  • Cluster IP Addresses
  • Cluster Operating Mode

Cluster Hosts

Each network load balancing (NLB) host runs a separate copy of the required server applications (such as Web or FTP). NLB distributes incoming client requests across the hosts in the cluster.

Audit the following information about cluster hosts:

  • Host Name
  • Host Priority
  • Dedicated IP Addresses
  • Initial State
  • Persist Suspend on Reboot
  • Manufacturer
  • Model
  • Operating System Name
  • Serial Number
  • Service Pack
